We Believe vs. Warriors Charity Game Highlights

So last Saturday was the Warriors pick-up game that Matt Barnes helped plan for his charity.  As someone who really wants to get serious about getting into writing about the NBA professionally, I originally planned to take a bunch of pictures, live tweet, get the full experience, etc, but honestly I’m too big of a Warriors fan and basically just enjoyed the time spent there.

The game was dope though.  Sure, you don’t have your Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, or John Wall to pull of some more than spectacular highlight dunks, but this game was tons of fun to watch, especially in a San Jose State Event Center filled with Warrior fans. 

Some great plays?  Most are shown in the video above, but it was pretty great watching Gilbert Arenas and Jeremy Lin (yes, Jeremy Lin) trade threes midway through the game.  Also, Corey Maggette kept being the black hole that he was in Golden State running isos for himself.  Ekpe Udoh didn’t play, but they had a little dougie-off (the dude can dance!).  DeMar Derozan also came out to watch.  And Ike Diogu played too, so that happened.

Missing on the court?  Baron Davis, who tweeted last month that he wouldn’t play.  At the end of the 3rd quarter, though, Baron ended up coming through (and also dubbed Stephen Curry as “The Future”) to a roar of cheers.  He didn’t suit up, which was disappointing, but did have the best play of the night:  About a minute left of the game, everyone’s yelling for Jason Richardson to dunk it.  He brings the ball down the court, tosses the ball out of bounds to Baron Davis at the bench.  He throws it up, alley straight into the hands of J-Rich (2nd to last play in the video).  Really brought back memories of the We Believe days.

This was a dream come true for Warriors fans.  Sure, Baron played for only 1 second of the game, and neither Monta Ellis nor Stephen Jackson made it out, but there was 12 years of Warriors on that court, all the way back from Antawn Jamison to recent draft pick Jeremy Tyler.  Not to be biased, but it’s pretty well known that Warrior fans are the best in the league, and the atmosphere last night just reinforced that notion.
